Jamshedpur, April 18: A crane operator, identified as Vinod Yadav, died after reportedly falling from a height of 50 feet in Shah Sponge and Power Limited, Potka, on Sunday. Critically injured in the mishap, he died on his way to hospital, police said.
A police team led by DSP Chandrashekhar Azad visited the company to conduct a probe into the mishap. The DSP said safety belt was not used by the worker which resulted in the fatality. He asked the company management to show safety belt, but the officials could not show it, sources said.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased accused the company management of neglecting safety norms and demanded compensation for the next of kin of late Yadav. Had the company provided safety equipments to Yadav, he would have been alive, they said.
