Jamshedpur, June 9: A memorandum addressed to the Jharkhand Chief Minister was handed to ADM Law and Order, Nand Kishore Lal in the absence of the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday by a Congress delegation demanding the immediate withdrawal of the hike in holding tax. The Congress delegation was led by Senior Vice President of East Singhbhum District Congress Committee, Prince Singh.
Prince Singh said on the occasion that in the Jharkhand government cabinet meeting, the holding tax on residential and non-residential property in municipal areas had been increased by 50 to 300 percent. The new holding tax hike will have an adverse economic effect on people of various economic walks of life. “People have suffered the brunt of COVID-19 periods and this hike in holding tax will add to the economic burden of the people. As it is, the rising inflationary trend are taking a financial toll on citizens and the increase in holding tax is an undesired and additional financial torture.”
Lal Bahadur Singh, Satyam Singh, Neeraj Singh, Naveen Mishra, Rohan Singh, Neeraj Sahu and Sandhya Das were the other members of the District Congress delegation.
