Jamshedpur: The festive spirit is in the air as churches in Jamshedpur gear up for Christmas celebrations. The city is adorned with twinkling lights, and colourful decorations and the sweet melodies of Christmas carols can be heard echoing through churches.

As part of the preparations for the festivities, churches have being decorated with Christmas trees and vivid floral arrangements.

St. George’s Church in Northern Town, Beldih Baptist Church near Beldih Triangle in Northern Town, St Mary’s Church in Bistupur, St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Golmuri to name a few are bustling with activity.

A variety of Christmas trees and cribs depicting the place of birth of Jesus Christ, a cattle shed, were set up on the premises of the churches as part of the Christmas tradition.

On the other hand, security measures have been ramped up to ensure peaceful celebrations on December 25.

The city’s traffic police have imposed restrictions on heavy vehicles, barring their entry from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm on Christmas Day to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement.
