Jamshedpur Church celebrates International Women’s Day

Jamshedpur: The Deanery Catholic Mahila Sangh, under the Jamshedpur Roman Catholic Diocese, organized a vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day at Telco Church, marked by enthusiasm, devotion and community spirit. Around 800 women from twelve parishes of the diocese participated, making the event a lively and faith-filled gathering.

The participating parishes included Mango, Sonari, Bistupur, Golmuri, Parsudih, Rahargora, Sini, Chandil, Jadugora, Musabani, and Maubhandar, reflecting the unity and active involvement of women in the life of the Church.

The program began with a Holy Mass solemnly celebrated by Bishop Telesphore Bilung of the Jamshedpur Diocese. In his message, the Bishop acknowledged the invaluable contribution of women in strengthening families, parishes and society, encouraging them to continue serving the Church with dedication, commitment and faith.

Following the Mass, a special program was conducted, featuring a keynote address by Fr. David Vincent from Bhilai Pahari. He highlighted the vital role of women in building strong and faith-filled communities and encouraged them to remain united, confident and committed to their responsibilities in both the Church and society.

The gathering was also addressed by Madhuri Minz, President of the Deanery Catholic Mahila Sangh and Bibiana Kujur, President of the Diocesan Catholic Mahila Sangh. Both leaders motivated women to work together with unity and dedication to strengthen the Catholic Mahila Sangh and continue their mission of service in the Church.

The celebration also featured cultural programs, songs and dances performed by women from different parishes, showcasing their rich talents and cultural heritage while creating a joyous and lively atmosphere.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Bishop, priests, leaders, organizers and all participants. Present at the ceremony were Father David Vincent, Father Valerian Lobo, Father Elvin, and Father Gerry D’Souza. The celebration successfully fostered a sense of unity, faith and fellowship among the women of the Diocese.
