Jamshedpur: Chandil’s Savita dies of poisoning, in-laws blamed

Jamshedpur, March 16: A 31 year-old woman, Savita Singh, died after reportedly consuming poison on Tuesday, sources said.

Sources said Savita was admitted to MGM Hospital in the afternoon. She had reportedly consumed some poisonous substance at home. When she fell unconscious, she was taken to hospital where she died during treatment after an hour.

Savita’s parents accused her in-laws of having poisoned her and also blamed them for torturing her mentally and physically. They said Savita was married 12 years ago and that their daughter was harassed by her in-laws every now and then. They said Savita’s mother-in-law had given her something to drink after having which she fell sick and died, sources said.

Police sent Savita’s body to MGM Medical College for postmortem examination. They said an investigation was on to reach any conclusion on the allegations leveled by the parents of the deceased.
