Jamshedpur: Champai Soren chairs meeting to review welfare and transport schemes

Jamshedpur, Oct 27: Champai Soren, Minister for Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Backward Class Welfare, and Transport Department chaired a review meeting of various departmental schemes in Jamshedpur.

During the meeting, the progress of several schemes, including Birsa Awas (housing), Jahersthan, Dhumkudiya, scholarships, Chief Minister Livestock Scheme, BDM, Chief Minister Medical Grant, Forest Patta (lease), and Chief Minister Gaadi Gram Yojana (vehicle scheme), was assessed. Several key officials were present at the meeting, including the Deputy Development Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer, District Welfare Officer, District Transport Officer, and others.

During the review of the Birsa Housing project, it was reported that construction of 271 out of 371 approved houses was complete, with 108 houses still pending. The Deputy Development Commissioner shared that construction of 75 houses had been completed in the last two months, and it was expected that 90 percent of the houses would be finished by November 15. The Minister emphasized the importance of timely and quality construction of these houses.

The review also touched on Jahersthan and Dhumkudiya construction projects, highlighting those that were still pending. The Minister stressed the need for close coordination among departments to ensure that these projects are completed by the end of December.

Scholarship distribution progress was discussed, with 1,48,341 students out of 1,61,447 beneficiaries having received their pre-matric scholarships.

The Minister urged that the Chief Minister’s Livestock Scheme benefit the maximum number of rural beneficiaries and that cattle sheds be built in convergence with MNREGA.

Regarding the Chief Minister Employment Generation Scheme, funds have been transferred to 873 out of 940 identified beneficiaries. The Minister called for thorough verification of applications before rejecting them.

The distribution of forest leases was also discussed. In the last two months, 191 forest leases have been distributed, with 40 approved. The Minister emphasized that during the distribution of forest leases, beneficiaries’ living and farming areas should not be reduced.

The meeting addressed various ongoing schemes and their progress while highlighting the need for effective coordination and the timely completion of projects.

 

Drive to Enhance Safety and Access in Chief Minister’s Gram Gaadi Yojana 

Soren emphasized the need to address issues related to overloaded vehicles and unauthorized roadside parking, which can potentially lead to road accidents.

Regarding the Chief Minister Gram Gaadi Yojana, he stressed the importance of creating routes that facilitate easy access to schools, colleges, hospitals, and block headquarters for residents of remote rural areas. This scheme has been introduced by the state government with a specific focus on ensuring that children from remote rural areas can attend school without hindrance due to the lack of transportation facilities.

 

The Minister emphasized that the bus routes should cater to the needs of various demographic groups, including children, the elderly, and women, ensuring their access to markets, government offices, hospitals, schools, and colleges.
