Jamshedpur, July 9: A delegation of Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce (JCC) led by patron Harvinder Singh Mantu today met the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner and handed him a protest letter against vendors and hawkers doing business on the Sakchi market streets thereby leading to perennial congestions and causing various difficulties for buyers. The delegation mentioned that the hawkers who regularly set up temporary stalls in the market should be evicted immediately and provided alternate place for conducting their business.

The JCC delegates mentioned that Sakchi market being at the heart of the steel city saw heavy footfalls every day. But the haphazard manner in which these street vendors set up their stalls deters market visitors from coming to this business centre of Jamshedpur.

They also stated that parking lot contractors were taking money and allowing the hawkers to crowd the car and two wheeler stands thus adding to the mess. The told the DC that sometime earlier the district administration, through sustained efforts, had removed the hawkers from Sakchi market thus clearing the congestion and ensuring that market goers breathed a sigh of relief. But, according to the delegation, was akin to flattery only to deceive. The delegates alleged that some lower ranked district officials were hand-in-glove with the hawkers that saw their return back on the streets of the Bazaar. In fact, the encroachments look more bizarre now. The JCC members warned that due to the prevailing circumstances of hawkers encroachment there was possibility of untoward incidents taking place.

The JCC delegation comprised patron Mohanlal Agrawal, secretary Akash Shah, Ramesh Ganeriwal, Brijesh Sonekar and other members.
