Jamshedpur, Nov 3: Dhatkidih resident Ashfaq Khan was shot at by masked assailants riding a Pulsar bike at the Circuit House petrol pump on Saturday evening at 6:30.

Ashfaq is a second year student of civil engineering at Arka Jain University in Gamharia. He had gone along with his friend Fardeen Khan to get petrol in his car. While he was refueling his car masked riders came and pointed a gun at Ashfaq from the window where Fardeen was sitting. Fardeen in reflex pushed away the hand of the shooter as a result of which the bullet hit Ashfaq�s thigh. A large crowd had gathered by then and the shooters were able to escape. The victim was rushed to TMH where doctors are attending on him. Ashfaq will be operated upon for removal of the bullet lodged in his thigh.

Ashfaq�s father Mustaq Khan who is a contractor with the building department stated that in 2014 an antisocial element of Dhatkidih had demanded Rs 15 lakh as protection money. He said that he did not pay the ransom amount but reported the matter to the Bistupur police. Since then he has been after Mustaq Khan.
Mustaq also said, �The miscreant had lodged false FIRs at Kadma and Mango police stations. After enquiry the falsity leveled against me was found out and both police stations closed the cases. Since then, the antisocial is after me. My son was attacked by him.�
