Jamshedpur, June 25. Police nabbed woman engaged in brown sugar business with a pistol on charges of demanding extortion.
Police have also recovered Rs 6.4 lakh in cash from the woman who identified herself as Salma Khatun and she lives in a rented house on the third floor of Mahima Residency located in Bhalubasa of Sitaramdera police station area. Her husband Afsar Ali is currently in jail for the business of brown sugar.
Salma’s brother Baban is also involved in demanding extortion and doing brown sugar business. In this regard, on Saturday, City SP Vijay Shankar told the media that the police had also recovered brown sugar besides pistol from the woman. City SP says that Salma has told in the interrogation that a young man from Bengal comes to her house and goes by giving her brown sugar.
The police has not been able to disclose where the youth comes from with brown sugar. Police is working to trace the main supplier. Salma has come in the custody of the police for the first time.
Police say that Salma Khatun changes her whereabouts every three months. Before this, she was living in Golmuri police station area. Two months back, he had taken a house on rent in Mahima Residency Sitaramdera.
According to the police, on the spot of Salma, a country-made pistol, cash, 20 pieces of brown sugar, seven live bullets, electric scales one piece, gold jewelery 36.3 grams, 100 pieces carry bag, three mobile has been recovered.
