Jamshedpur Book Fair witnesses launch of ‘The Last Fight for Freedom’

Jamshedpur, Nov 18: Jamshedpur Book Fair, held at Rabindra Bhavan, hosted the grand launch of the significant English book, “The Last Fight for Freedom, An Unforgettable Journey Manipur,” penned by author Paresh Kumar Nandi. The book was jointly unveiled by Convener Ashish Choudhary, acclaimed Cinematographer Partha Bhattacharjee, National Award-winning Teacher Sandhya Pradhan, Akashvani Jamshedpur Senior Announcer Utpal Dutt and Jamshedpur Bengal Club Secretary Soumya Sen. The event saw a large gathering of literary enthusiasts.

In his meticulously researched book, author Paresh Kumar Nandi explores the unique nature, vibrant culture and captivating beauty of Manipur, the northeastern state of India, using sensitive and effective language. Crucially, the book illuminates the often-forgotten saga of sacrifice, struggle and heroism of the Manipuri people during the final phase of India’s freedom struggle—a history largely unknown to most Indians. The narrative specifically highlights the thrilling account of the collapse of the British Empire in Moirang and the indomitable bravery and sacrifice of the Azad Hind Fauj (INA) under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The book delves into the true history of the 1944 INA headquarters, the truth behind the formation of the INA War Museum and various untold events, bringing to light many historical chapters that have long remained obscure. This newly launched book is set to play a significant role in connecting readers with a vital yet overlooked part of India’s freedom movement.
