Jamshedpur, March 26: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of Mango met the executive engineer of electricity department here on Saturday to seek remedy against frequent power cuts and load-shedding. They also demanded immediate replacement of electric poles in all localities of Mango to prevent any untoward incident, sources said.

The BJP leaders were led by the Mango unit president Vinod Rai. They handed over a memorandum to the executive engineer and informed him that Mango was witnessing power cuts every day during the crucial study hours of children. Due to power cuts, children are unable to study in most of the households not having any alternative arrangement for power back-up, they said.

Rai said the condition of electric poles had become dilapidated in several localities including Sankosai Road No 1, Gurudwara Road, Daiguttu, Rajeev Path and Sankosai Sharma Line. He said a major accident can take place any day owing to the old power cables and shaky poles. He said the poles and cables should be changed immediately to prevent any mishaps.

The BJP leaders threatened to launch massive public agitation in case their demands were not fulfilled within next 10 days.
