Jamshedpur, April 5: State BJP spokesperson Kunal Sarangi has alleged that illegal mining activities were thriving in the city under the patronage of the district mining department officials.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Sarangi said, “The role of the district mining officer and few other officials of the district administration seems to be suspicious. Illegal mining of sand from various river banks across the district is on despite tall claims of the state government. A handful of corrupt officials and local political leaders are helping the culprits. I demand a fair probe into the unauthorized mining activities and the role of district mining officials in these illegal acts.”
The BJP leader said sand was being mined in Shyamsunderpur, Domjuri, Kaima, Panipara, Nagursai, Barnipal, Madhuabera, Bamdal, Barnipal and Guhiapal. He said a task force should be set up to crack down on the culprits.
“The DMO goes on inspection in a BMW car. He should tell people as to whether the state government provided him the car or someone else,” said the BJP leader.
