Jamshedpur,July 21: In a significant development, the Jharkhand High Court has granted bail to local BJP leader Abhay Singh and more than 30 others accused in the Kadma communal violence case. The court’s decision came after a thorough hearing of the bail plea filed by Abhay Singh and several co-accused who were allegedly involved in inciting a riot at Shastrinagar in Kadma following the Ramnavami festival earlier this year.
The bail was provided by a bench comprising Justice SN Prasad and Justice Subhash Chand. The court carefully considered the arguments presented by senior HC advocates RS Majumdar and Rohan Majumdar, who appeared on behalf of Abhay Singh. On the other hand, advocate Bholanath Ojha represented the state government.
During the hearing, the state government’s arguments highlighted Abhay Singh’s alleged involvement in the conspiracy to incite violence, as documented in the case diary. Despite being denied bail by the lower court, Abhay Singh decided to approach the Jharkhand High Court seeking relief.
The BJP leader was taken into custody on April 10, along with approximately 60 other individuals, on charges of instigating communal violence at Shastrinagar in Kadma. Abhay Singh, who is also the convenor of Jamshedpur Central Ramnavami Akhara Samiti besides being associated with the BJP, has vehemently denied his involvement in the incident.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, state BJP chief Babulal Marandi, and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto have extended their support to Abhay Singh. They visited him at the Ghaghidih Central Jail and assured him of all necessary assistance to ensure justice and secure his early release.
The Kadma communal violence case has been closely watched by the public and political circles, given Abhay Singh’s prominence as a local BJP leader. The court’s decision to grant bail to him and other accused has drawn various reactions, with some expressing relief while others continue to seek accountability and justice for the events that unfolded after the Ramnavami festival.
As the legal proceedings continue, all eyes will remain on the unfolding events, hoping for a fair and impartial resolution to this sensitive case that has deeply impacted the community in Kadma. The bail granted to Abhay Singh and others has set the stage for further legal scrutiny, and the matter remains one of public interest and concern.
