Samaj wants ban on Shailendra Mahato’s book, accuse of distorting history

Jamshedpur, December 21: Bhumij Samaj took out a rally from Sakchi Ambagan on Wednesday and reached the district collectorate office and demonstrated there in support of their demands and also handed over a memorandum at deputy commissioner’s office.

Bhumij Samaj alleged that former Jamshedpur MP Shailendra Mahto is trying to distort the history of Bhumij Samaj and usurp the history of their ancestors on the basis of fictitious stories in his books written on Jharkhand rebellion. Regarding this, the Bhumij community is demanding a ban on the publication of two books of the former MP, Jharkhand ki Samargatha and Jharkhand’s history of rebellion.

Significantly, former MP Shailendra Mahato has written many books on the history of Jharkhand region along with the struggle for freedom in Jharkhand region.

 Bhumij Samaj alleged that in the books of former MP Shailendra Mahato, an attempt has been made to distort the history of Bhumij Samaj and usurp the history of Bhumij Samaj on the basis of fictitious stories.

They alleged that even history of the famous Chuad movement of Bhumijs through an imaginary person named Raghunath Mahto has been tried to distort. They believe that in the Ghutiadih village of Nimdih block, where Shailendra Mahato of the alleged Raghunath Mahato was born, in the year 1738 no one from the Mahato community lived there. On the basis of many such arguments, Bhumij community alleged that he wants to distort their movement.

Regarding this, Bhumij Samaj took out a big rally from Sakchi Ambagan, which turned into a demonstration after reaching the district collectorate office. However, the traffic system of the city was badly affected due to road jam during this period.

Traffic came to a standstill from Sakchi Howrah Bridge to Sakchi Golchakkar, due to which people were very upset. On the other hand, after the demonstration at the DC office, the Bhumij protesters also submitted a memorandum related to their demands to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, demanding a ban on the publication of the above two books by former MP Shailendra Mahato.
