Jamshedpur Bhojpuri community celebrates Sattuvan Festival

Jamshedpur, April 14: The heritage and folk culture of the Bhojpuri community were celebrated as it observed the Sattuvan festival at Bhojpuri Bhawan in Golmuri. Community members embraced the cultural essence by partaking in traditional delicacies like gram, corn, barley sattu, with mango, coriander-mint chutney, pickles, onion, chili, and jaggery.

Speakers emphasized the significance of Sattuvan as a cornerstone of Bhojpuri culture and traditions, marking the commencement of the New Year and the tradition of consuming ‘Newani’ – Naya Mango Tikoda Chutney. The festival, also known as Satua Sakranti, symbolized family unity through the shared consumption of Sattu.

Participants, including Arvind Vidrohi, Pradeep Singh Bhojpuria, and Yamuna Tiwari Harshit, pledged to safeguard their cultural heritage. The event witnessed a gathering of prominent figures such as Masood Khan, Balwinder Singh, and Shashi Bhushan Mishra, among others, reaffirming their commitment to preserve Bhojpuri traditions for generations to come.
