Jamshedpur, Nov 25: Jharkhand State Assembly’s Nivedan Samiti on Friday took stock of the public grievances and administrative problems of the East Singhbhum district in the presence of MLAs and senior government officials.
The committee’s chairman Barhi MLA Umashankar Akela sorted out a couple of issues on the spot and issued show cause notices to the Senior Superintendent of Police and general manager of the electricity department for being absent during the meeting.
Akela, accompanied by other members of the committee – deputy chairman Jharia MLA Purnima Niraj Singh, Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren and Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi – met the officials of various government departments. During the meeting 17 cases were taken up for scrutiny of which two cases concerning the Ghatsila assembly segment were resolved.
Akela explained that the committee has been constituted to scrutinize administrative problems of various assembly segments and provide solutions for the same. He said that the MLA of the concerned assembly segment under scrutiny along with officials of all government departments should be present in the meeting to ensure that the problems of each area is well understood by the public representatives and highlighted during assembly sessions.
Jamshedpur was the first stop for the committee that will now tour all districts in the state. The committee members will next head towards Dhanbad. Akela informed that the committee will next meet in January.
After the meeting Akela and Singh along with Kalindi paid tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda at the newly erected statue at the Sakchi chowk. Akela and Singh lauded Kalindi’s efforts to get the statue erected in Sakchi.
