Jamshedpur, April 27: Illegally constructed structures were razed down near Bagey Basti at Marine Drive, Kadma, on Wednesday by a joint team of East Singhbhum district administration and Tata Steel, sources said.
Local BJP leader Ganesh Mahali reached the site in a bid to stop the anti-encroachment drive. However, the administration officials present at the site refused to yield to pressure. The entire operation was led by the Circle Officer Amit Srivastava.
Sources said the administration had received complaints regarding encroachment in Bagey Basti. A BPLE case was also lodged against the encroachers earlier.
A huge deployment of armed police and Quick Response Team (QRT) was made at Bagey Basti. Five bulldozers were pressed into service to quickly remove encroachment.
Several dozens of illegally built hosues were removed today from both sides of Marine Drive main road, sources said.
