Jamshedpur, Jan 17:In view of the rising Covid cases, the Tusu Mela organised by Jharkhandwasi Ekta Manch on January 21 every year at Bistupur Gopal Maidan has been canceled. The mela was also not held last year. If all goes well, the said event will be held in a grand manner in the next year.
The above information was jointly given by the convener of the forum, Bidhyut Baran Mahato and Chief Convener Aastik Mahato, at a meeting held in Sonari on Monday. Apart from the city, he has appealed to Tusu lovers coming to the fair from Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha to stay in their home and celebrate Tusu festival with family members, so that they can be safe themselves and help others to stay safe.
He said that it was organised in the year 2006 by the then MP Late. Sunil Mahato and former Deputy Chief Minister of the state Sudhir Mahato. But this year, an outbreak of corona hit the region. Therefore, the forum has decided not to hold this event to protect human life this year.
Several members of the forum were present at the meeting including Swapan Mahato, Bablu Mahato, Sachin Mahato, Babu Nag, Sura Biruli, Gopal Mahato, Kamal Mahato, Umashankar.
