Jamshedpur, March 26: A court of Judicial Magistrate here acquitted Akhilesh Singh in a case of extortion due to lack of evidence on Saturday.
The case dates back to the year 2010 when an FIR was lodged against Akhilesh Singh by Eastern India Limited Company. In the complaint, Akhilesh was accused of sending his goons to the company for allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakh as extortion money. As per the complaint, the accused had demanded Rs 10 per tonne of transported goods and threatened to kill the transporter on failing to do so. Members of Akhilesh Singh gang were also accused of assaulting the company officials.
