Jamshedpur, Feb 17: Hundreds of Adivasis put up a demonstration before the Jamshedpur block office on Friday and demanded that the famous Parasnath be handed over to the tribal community.
Leading the protestors united under the banner of Majhi Pargana Mahal, Dashmat Hansda said, “Parasnath Parvat has long been the religious place of the Adivasis. The Santhal community has been worshipping this holy mountain since ancient times. Hence the government should hand over the possession of this ancient heritage site to the Adivasis.” Earlier today, the protestors reached the block office with traditional weapons. They held lathis, spears, swords and other weapons in their hands in the form of procession. The procession started at Karandih Chowk and reached the block office. The protestors beat drums to register their protest.
