Jamshedpur: Accused in Rs 19 lakh fraud arrested from Agra; missing minor recovered

Jamshedpur: Police have arrested a man accused of cheating Father Vijay Khalkho of Rahragora of Rs 19 lakh and kidnapping a minor girl. The accused, identified as Suresh alias Andrew James, was caught along with his wife Sarita James during a raid at Agra Cantt. The minor girl has also been safely recovered.

The case was registered on 3 September at Parsudih Police Station. According to the complaint, Suresh had befriended Father Vijay while working in the hotel management sector. He allegedly extracted Rs 19 lakh from him on the pretext of arranging various facilities. He later took a minor girl along, claiming he would provide her good education.

Earlier, Suresh had been detained by police on 20 November, but dramatically escaped with handcuffs from a moving train near a Dhanbad railway station. Police sources say he hails from Bengaluru.

The arrest was made by a team led by Parsudih Police Station in-charge Avinash Kumar, with ASI Sandeep Kumar Singh, Havildar Sanjay Ram, Sukhdev Bhagat, Jorom Topno and Sanita Aind. Former Parsudih police station in-charge Faiz Ahmad is also credited for his role in the investigation.

The couple is now in custody and further legal proceedings are underway.
