Seraikela, June 22: Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the sensational robbery and firing case at KGN Medical Store in Kapali by arresting a long-absconding accused involved in the crime.
The arrested accused, identified as Sarik Sah alias Ghegha (26), was apprehended near Murda Maidan on Road No. 7 in Baganshahi, Jamshedpur, following a sustained manhunt by a special police team.
According to Kapali OP in-charge Avinash Kumar, the incident took place on the night of April 5, 2025, at around 9:50 pm, when armed criminals entered KGN Medical Store in Kabirnagar and allegedly demanded extortion money from the proprietor, Sarik Parvez. When the demand was resisted, the assailants opened fire, vandalized the shop, and fled with cash and mobile phones. A case was subsequently registered at Kapali OP under Case No. 57/2025.
Police officials stated that several accused linked to the case had already been arrested and sent to judicial custody on the basis of technical and human intelligence inputs. However, Sarik Sah, considered one of the key accused, had managed to evade arrest for more than a year. Acting on the directives of the Superintendent of Police, a special team intensified surveillance and conducted multiple raids, ultimately leading to his capture.
Investigators revealed that the pistol and ammunition used in the crime had already been recovered earlier on the basis of disclosures made by another accused. The case has been pursued through scientific investigation and technical evidence.
Police records indicate that the arrested accused has a lengthy criminal history, with cases related to murder, robbery, violations of the Arms Act, and other serious offences registered against him in Kapali, Potka, Govindpur, and several other police station jurisdictions.
The arrest operation was carried out by a team led by Kapali OP in-charge Avinash Kumar, along with SI Ranjit Kumar Singh, ASI Manoj Kumar Rai, Havildar Krishna Chandra Birua, and Tiger Mobile constable Dastagir Alam. The accused has been forwarded for further judicial proceedings.
