Speeding SUV Toyota Fortuner leaves biker critically injured on Tata–Ranchi NH-33

Jamshedpur, June 22: A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after being hit by a speeding Toyota Fortuner on the Tata–Ranchi stretch of NH-33 near Dubrajpur village under Chowka police station limits in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday morning.

According to reports, Kush Mahato, a resident of Chowka village, was travelling from Chowka towards Jamshedpur on his motorcycle when the SUV, heading in the same direction from Ranchi to Jamshedpur, allegedly rammed into his bike. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the motorcycle badly mangled.
The Fortuner also suffered significant damage to its front portion. However, the vehicle’s airbags deployed instantly, protecting the occupants from serious injuries.

In a commendable gesture, the occupants of the SUV immediately rushed the injured biker to Patkum Community Health Centre for medical attention. After providing primary treatment, doctors referred Mahato to a hospital in Jamshedpur for advanced care due to the seriousness of his injuries.

Following information about the incident, a team from Chowka police station reached the spot and carried out an inspection. Both the damaged motorcycle and the Fortuner have been seized as part of the investigation.
Police have initiated a probe to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and determine whether over speeding or negligence led to the crash. The incident once again highlights growing concerns over road safety and speeding on the busy NH-33 corridor.
