Jamshedpur, May 4: The Jamshedpur court on Thursday sentenced Raju Bera, a resident of Chakulia, to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of kidnapping of a 17-year-old minor girl from Potka police station area of Jamshedpur’s rural area on October 11, 2021.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him. The hearing of this case was being conducted by the court of ADJ-One cum Special Judge POSCO Sanjay Kumar Upadhyay of Jamshedpur Court. Six people have testified in the case. While registering an FIR at the Potka police station, the girl’s family told the police that on the morning of October 11, 2021, the girl suddenly went missing.
In this regard, a charge of kidnapping was lodged against Raju Bera, a resident of Chakulia. The police arrested Raju and sent him to jail. The court has sentenced Raju Bera to 14 years and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section-4 of POSCO.
In case of non-payment of the fine, he has been ordered to undergo an additional three months’ separate sentence, while under section 365 (kidnapping) of Bhadavi, a fine of five thousand rupees has been imposed. In case of non-payment of fine, he has been ordered to undergo additional two months’ imprisonment separately.
