Jamshedpur, Nov 5: As East Singhbhum district prepares for the November 13 polling day across its six Assembly constituencies, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal has directed a comprehensive awareness campaign to inform voters about identification requirements. In preparation for the Assembly General Election 2024, the campaign aims to ensure voters know that while the Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) is the preferred identification, alternative IDs will be accepted to establish identity.
The District Election Officer emphasized that all voters who possess a Voter ID are expected to present it at their polling stations. However, if a voter cannot present their Voter ID, they may still vote by showing one of the following 12 alternative photo IDs: Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Bank or Post Office-issued Photo Passbook, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under Ministry of Labour schemes, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued under NPR by RGI, Indian Passport, Photo-based Pension Document, Photo Service ID Card issued by central/state governments, PSUs, or public limited companies, Government ID issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Unique Disability ID (UDID) card from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
