Ishan Kishan dismissed cheaply after Kumar Suraj scores century in Jharkhand’s strong response against Chhattisgarh

Jharkhand reach 304/4 on day 2, take 74-run lead against Chhattisgarh

Jamshedpur, Jan 24: Ishan Kishan’s dismissal for just 23 runs (22 balls), in what was a brief and disappointing stint at the crease for the Jharkhand batter on Day 2 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Chhattisgarh at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur. However, Kumar Suraj’s magnificent century provided a solid foundation for the team, as Jharkhand finished the day at 304/4, leading by 74 runs.

Kumar Suraj played a brilliant knock of 104 runs from 226 balls, supported well by Sharandeep Singh, who contributed 69 runs off 192 balls. The duo’s partnership of 179 runs for the first wicket had set the stage for Jharkhand’s response to Chhattisgarh’s first-innings total of 230 all out.

In a strategic move, Sharandeep, who had impressed in his recent outings, continued his excellent form, adding a crucial half-century to his tally. Despite the setback with Kishan’s dismissal, Jharkhand’s strong top order led them to a commanding position.

Chhattisgarh’s bowlers struggled to break through, with Gagandeep Singh and Sumit Ruikar claiming key wickets. Jharkhand will look to extend their lead on Day 3, aiming for a dominant finish in this crucial encounter.
