Irrigation drain to be built in Kovali

Potka: An irrigation drain is going to be constructed in Kovali panchayat of Potka block. The foundation of the project was laid here on Thursday by the local Mukhiya Suchitra Sardar. The proposed drain would cost Rs 1.67 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Sardar said a majority of the people in Potka were dependent on agriculture for a living. Due to insufficient rain, the farmers have to often face water crisis. With the view to provide sufficient water to the farms, Kovali was selected for the irrigation project, she said.
Among those present on the occasion included Hiten Sardar, Sachin Barik, Vibhuti Bhushan Mahakud, Avdhut Mahakud, Sombari Sardar and Bhanumati Sardar.
