Jamshedpur: The intermediate board examination, scheduled by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) after February 15, is just a few weeks away, yet students at Co-operative College in Jamshedpur are facing mounting anxiety due to the prolonged closure of intermediate classes. With less than two and a half months left, around 3,000 students in classes 11 and 12 are concerned about how they will prepare for the upcoming exams.

Classes have been suspended for more than a month, with reasons cited for the interruption ranging from the takeover of the college during the assembly elections to the commencement of the process for filling the examination registration forms. Despite repeated demands from students for classes to resume, the college administration has yet to take action, citing the ongoing registration process as the primary reason for the continued closure.

Rahul Kumar, an intermediate student, shared his frustration, saying, “In the last week of October, the college administration stopped the classes due to the takeover related to the assembly elections. We were told that classes would resume later, but when we checked in November, we were informed that some construction work had been done in our classrooms. They assured us classes would resume once the construction was completed, but that hasn’t happened yet.”

Pankaj Kumar, another intermediate student, expressed his concern about the looming exams, saying, “When the studies were stopped, our syllabus was only 50% complete. We were hoping that after the elections, classes would resume and the syllabus would be finished, but that hasn’t happened. Now, with the exams approaching, it’s unclear how we will manage without completing our studies.”

In response to these concerns, Dr. Bhushan Kumar, the Intermediate Incharge at Co-operative College, explained, “Currently, the process of filling the board exam registration forms is underway, which is why classes are not being conducted. However, once this process is complete, classes will resume. As for the suspension of classes during the elections, we did conduct online sessions as an alternative. So, it’s not accurate to say that studies haven’t been happening.”

With the exams fast approaching, the students remain hopeful that the administration will take the necessary steps to resume regular classes and help them complete their syllabus in time. However, the uncertainty surrounding the resumption of classes is leaving many students worried about their preparations for the crucial exams.
