Jamshedpur: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Jamshedpur inaugurated its flagship two-day conference, Innovest 2026, on Friday. The event, titled “Innovations in Engineering for Sustainable Transformations,” marks a significant push toward interdisciplinary research and green technological development.
Leadership Highlights and Keynotes
Chief Guest T N Singh, Director of IIT Patna, opened the session by urging participants to bridge the gap between academia and industry. He emphasized that sustainable, industry-oriented innovations remain vital to solving real-world challenges.
NIT Jamshedpur Director and Chief Patron Goutam Sutradhar lauded the department’s efforts, noting that platforms like Innovest 2026 strengthen the institute’s global standing. He encouraged students to pursue research excellence and innovation-driven education. Supporting this vision, Deputy Director R V Sharma and Dean (Academic) M K Sinha stressed the importance of academic rigor and practical applications in engineering research.
Record-Breaking Participation
The conference drew an overwhelming response from the scientific community:

Submissions: Researchers submitted more than 300 research papers.

Accepted Works: Following a rigorous peer-review process, the committee accepted over 170 papers for presentation.

Attendance: Approximately 35 participants attended in person, while another 115 joined virtually, ensuring broad knowledge dissemination.
Organizing Excellence
Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department Parmanand Kumar delivered the welcome address, outlining the conference’s goal to unite experts across cutting-edge mechanical engineering fields. Registrar Saroj Kumar Sarangi commended the organizing team for their seamless execution.
Organizing secretaries Rinku Kumar Gouda, Shailesh Kumar Jha, Arvind Patel, Abhishek Kumar, and Sri Krishna Sudhamsu Kambhammettu coordinated the event, ensuring the successful launch of this major academic exchange.
