Jamshedpur, Aug 12: The subject of menstruation is still something that is considered taboo and although many organisations are doing what they can to end the shame and eradicate period poverty, there is still a long way to go.
The members of Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur East created awareness among young girls and women of Rajak Samaj Basti Manifit on menstrual health and hygiene.
On the occasion, Ira Bandopadhyay, former president of Inner Wheel Club Jamshedpur East said, using sanitary pads during menstruation prevents infection and deadly diseases. At the event 200 sanitary pads were distributed among women. Also present were former club president Rama Khanna, President Sonali Mohanty, Ira Bandopadhyay, Sampa Upadhyay, Anjubala, Archana, Manjari Bhattacharya and others. About 50 women of Rajak Samaj also attended the event.
