JSPCB officials hold one-to-one with industries at AIADA to resolve clearance issues
Jamshedpur: Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) is mulling over plans to set up more pollution testing centres in Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Ranchi and other cities of the state. This was revealed here on Friday by the chairman of JSPCB, A K Pandey, on his visit to Adityapur.
Speaking to scribes on the current situation in the state, Pandey said the existing pollution testing facilities in the major cities of Jharkhand are just not enough to deal with the need of the time. These cities, especially Jamshedpur and Dhanbad should get more pollution testing centres. Good infrastructure needs to be raised so that the department is able to work more efficiently and cater to present day requirements, he said.
The JSPCB chairman held a one-to-one meeting with the representatives of various industrial units of Adityapur, Gamharia, Kandra and adjoining areas at Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA) office. He said the meeting was convened to discuss various issues pertaining to pollution clearance and compliance being faced by the industrial units.
We received 44 cases for resolution of pollution clearance issues. We had invited the representatives of these companies to tell us their problems so that the same could be solved. Majority of the cases were related to clearance related difficulties which were resolved on the spot, said Pandey.
Asked whether the department would consider simplifying the clearance related procedure to facilitate ease of doing business for the existing industries, the JSPCB chairman said the department had planned the meet with the same purpose. We want to make sure that the industrial units do not face any hurdles in complying with the mandatory pollution control norms. Todays meeting was called to make things easier. We will make sure that no one is harassed unnecessarily, he said.
Also present on the occasion was the Industry Secretary, Dr Nitin Madan Kulkarni. He said todays meet was organized to discuss various pertinent issues with the industrial units. He added that the department was committed to ensure ease of doing business for prospective investors as well as the existing industries.
