Bengals Abhinansu & Choudhary win Men’s Open Doubles final
Jamshedpur: Delhi’s Shubham Malhotra, seeded 5th in the draw lifts the Men’s Open Singles title at the just concluded Beldih Club AITA Men’s National Ranking 50K Tennis Championship 2017, held at Beldih Club and United Club in Northern Town, Bistupur, on Friday.
Malhotra got a quick lead of 4-0 in the first 15 minutes of the match, thereby creating huge pressure on the erratic Abhinansu Borthakur (Seeded 3rd) of West Bengal. Delhi’s Malhotra did not falter much as he bagged the opening set by an easy 6-2. In the second, Borthakur came back strong and seemed more patient and consistent as he went up by 4-1 in no time. Thereafter, 3rd seeded Borthakur lost his rhythm once again and got over-powered by the better Malhotra, as the later claimed the title by a straight 6-2, 6-4.
In the Men’s Open Doubles final, Bengal’s Abhinansu Borthakur satisfied himself with a quick revenge as he partnered state-mate Neeraj Choudhary to dismiss Shubham Malhotra and Hemant Kumar, both from Delhi and seeded 1 in the draw by a clean 6-3,6-2.
