Hazaribagh: In a startling incident that unfolded late on Monday evening, chaos ensued at the Hazaribagh police line as Sub-Inspector Brijanandan, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, discharged a total of 28 rounds from his service revolver. SI Brijanandan, who was on PCR duty, returned to the police line barracks around 7 p.m., only to emerge at approximately 8 p.m. on the police line road, firing six rounds into the air.
Reports indicate that despite this initial bout of reckless shooting, the inebriated SI remained unsatisfied. He proceeded to his room, reloaded his revolver, and continued firing into the air. Notably, the revolver magazine held 35 bullets, with 28 being discharged during the incident. The gunshots prompted panic among fellow officers residing in the police line.
In response to the commotion, two officers donning bulletproof jackets successfully apprehended SI Brijanandan. The authorities are currently investigating the matter, with preparations underway to file charges against the accused SI. As of the latest update, SI Brijanandan has been sent to the hospital for a medical examination.
When questioned about the incident, Major Devvrat acknowledged receiving information about the firing at the police line but stated that only higher officials would provide further details. The situation is under scrutiny, and updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
