Team to prepare for Asian Championship at JRD Tata Sports Complex
Jamshedpur, July 4: The national training camp for the Indian junior men’s handball team will begin on Sunday at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. The camp is being hosted by the Jharkhand Handball Association and will continue until July 13.
The training camp is being organised to prepare the Indian team for the 19th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship, which will be held in China from July 15 to 27. A total of 24 players from across the country and four experienced coaches are participating in the camp, said Jharkhand Handball Association Secretary Imran Masood Khan
Addressing a press conference at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday, Imran Masood Khan, Tata Steel Sports Chief Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, and Captain Amitabh of Tata Steel Foundation said all arrangements for the accommodation and meals of the players and coaching staff have been made within the JRD Tata Sports Complex. After completing the camp in Jamshedpur on July 13, the Indian team will travel to Kolkata before departing for China to participate in the continental championship.
Jharkhand has added to the pride of the host state with seven of its players being selected to attend the national camp. The players will undergo intensive training under the guidance of international handball coach Hassan Imam Malik, who has been appointed as the chief coach for the camp.
