Ranchi, Jan 8: The Chief Secretary R.S. Sharma today said that strengthening of tasar plantation and lac cultivation with high value addition has high employment potential in the state.
The Chief Secretary said at a meeting to improve tasar plantation and lac cultivation and its convergence with other government schemes. The capital investment is also low. Sericulture and lac cultivation like pisciculture, dairy and rubber plantation are the allied livelihood activities of the state, he said.
Chief Secretary focused on scaling up of cocoon rearing as an integrated programme for development of sericulture. He suggested devising a robust micro-level plan by strategically identifying land, panchayats and the beneficiaries to implement this plan. He asked for devising a mechanism to ensure timely fund-flow.
He also said to allot a project ID for this work. Chief Secretary suggested web-based information system of the project. He said that scalability and replication of plot projects are very important. He also emphasized on broodlac production.
At the meeting, Jharcraft Managing Director Shri Dhirendra Kumar presented a draft vision document on sericulture.
Principal Secretary Personnel Shri S.K. Sathpathy, Principal Secretary IT Shri N.N. Sinha, Agriculture Secretary, Shri N.M. Kulkarni, Industries Secretary Smt.Vandana Dadel along with other officials were present at the meeting.
