IMD issues alert for dense to moderate fog in Jamshedpur, fall in minimum temperature

Jamshedpur: The local Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for dense to moderate fog in Jamshedpur and several parts of Jharkhand over the next 48 hours. Additionally, weather forecasters predict an abrupt fall in minimum temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius during the next 2 to 3 days.

The impact of twin cyclonic circulations, which led to adverse weather conditions and rainfall in Jharkhand in recent days, is reportedly on the wane. However, northern and central districts of Jharkhand are expected to experience dense to moderate fog for the next two days, leading to poor visibility, according to a duty officer at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Weather conditions in Jharkhand are expected to be primarily dry over the next three days. Today, a partly cloudy sky is anticipated in various places across the state, with the Met Office issuing a forecast of mainly clear skies in most parts from tomorrow onwards.

While the minimum temperature in most parts of the state witnessed a rising trend today due to the partly cloudy sky, weathermen anticipate a dip in minimum temperatures starting tomorrow. Sub-10-degree Celsius temperatures are expected to make a comeback in Jharkhand over the next two to three days.

Residents have been advised to stay informed about the changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to dense fog. The meteorological alert serves as a reminder for individuals to stay updated on weather forecasts and make informed decisions during the predicted weather fluctuations.

Weathermen also hinted at an extended winter in Jharkhand keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions. ” Never before has the cold wave spell continued for such a long time in the state, which is an indication of an extended weather. Moreover, the wind pattern which is north westerly in direction is also helping in sustaining the cold wave conditions,” explained a senior meteorologist at the Patna Met Office. The senior Met official said that winter usually departs Jharkhand in the third week of February . But, this year it is expected to stay till the end of the month.
