Jamshedpur: A delegation of IMA Jamshedpur Chapter met the SSP against growing incidents of attacks on doctors by the relatives of the patients.
The delegation urged the SSP to see to it that incidents of assaults on doctors are stopped at the earliest. The IMA also demanded police security around all nursing homes in the city.
President of IMA Jamshedpur chapter Mrityunjay Singh said that doctors are feeling insecurity because of rising incidents of attacks by the relatives of patients.
In the event of death of the patients angry mob often resort to vandalism and even assault the doctors branding them responsible, he said.
He said that doctors of TMH faced the wrath of the people and were manhandled by a group of people on Thursday. The IMA demanded arrests of the persons who were responsible for the incident.
Mrityunjay Singh said that the SSP had assured IMA that the district police would provide full protection to the doctors. The SSP also asked for the list of the nursing homes so that proper security could be made available.
