Jamshedpur, June 24: The issue of illegal sand mining continues to plague the ghats of the Subarnarekha River in the Bahragora block of East Singhbhum district. In broad daylight, sand is being illicitly excavated and transported using tractors. Prompt action was taken when authorities received information about the ongoing illegal activities. On Saturday, Station In-Charge Santan Kumar Tiwari and Circle Officer Jitram Murmu, along with a police force, conducted a raid. As a result, two tractors loaded with illegal sand were seized on the main road near Keola. Unfortunately, the drivers of both tractors managed to escape, abandoning their vehicles at the scene. The seized tractors, one Sonalika and one John Deere, have been brought to the police station for further investigation. The authorities are currently working to ascertain the identities of the tractor owners and drivers involved. This swift action by the administration has sent shockwaves among the illegal sand traders, creating a sense of unease within their ranks.
