Illegal liquor factory busted in Jamshedpur, three held

Jamshedpur, March 14: A team of district excise department officials conducted a surprise raid at a mini liquor factory near Bhilai Pahari under MGM police station area on Monday.

Assistant Excise Commissioner AK Mishra said he had got a tip-off about the mini factory manufacturing illicit liquor and supplying the same to shops and customers. The illicit liquor was supposed to be sold to customers during Holi, he said.

The team seized several thousand litres of spirit, monograms of four well-known foreign liquor brands, bottling machine and other materials used to prepare hooch from the factory. They also arrested two persons and took into custody a minor found with them, Mishra said.

The team also confiscated a four-wheeler used to supply the illicit liquor to shops. The liquor would be sent to laboratory to find out if it was poisonous, officials said.
