Jamshedpur (IANS): The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Jamshedpur Chapter celebrated IIM Foundation Day today, hosting a dynamic event designed to inspire the next generation of metallurgical engineers. The chapter invited students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur and BIT Sindri to engage with industry veterans and R&D experts at the Beldih Club.
Elevator Pitch Competition Sparks Innovation
The festivities kicked off at 2:00 PM with an energetic Elevator Pitch competition. Participants competed in two distinct categories to showcase their vision for the industry:
- Student Category: Future challenges in Metallurgy and Materials Science.
- IIM Member Category: Recent developments in Metallurgy and Materials Science.
Expert Talks from National Award Winners
To ignite passion among young minds, the chapter hosted a series of Expert Talks featuring three distinguished metallurgy professionals. The speakers, all recipients of prestigious 2025 national honors, shared their insights:
- Dr. Anup Kumar: Recipient of the IIM National Metallurgist Award – 2025.
- Dr. Ammasi & Mr. Kaushal: Recipients of the IIM Young Metallurgist Award – 2025.
Following the talks, the IIM Jamshedpur Chapter held a felicitation ceremony to honor local members who received awards at the recent IIM-ATM 2025 held at IIT Hyderabad.
Leadership Insights and Career Guidance
Several esteemed dignitaries graced the event, offering mentorship to the 150+ attendees.
Dr. Atanu Ranjan Pal, Chairman of the IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the immense networking benefits of the IIM platform and encouraged students to join the organization for long-term professional growth.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Gautam Sutradhar (Director, NIT Jamshedpur), motivated the audience with a keynote on the expanding career opportunities within the materials and metallurgical engineering sectors.
