Ranchi, June 13: Below is the text of Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu’s speech on the occasion of “Namaste Start-Up” organized on Monday.
“I am delighted to be with you all this morning. I compliment the organizers to have thought of the concept of start-ups, which is both relevant and timely.
Start-up as a concept is as old human civilization. From pastoral activities like hunting and gathering to the Supercomputers and space shuttles of today are all start ups.
A tea stall or vegetable vendor is as much a start-up as also the big companies like Google or Apple. The differentiation is one’s imagination, the power of our dreams. As you know, all these huge companies began from countryside garages.
Everyone calls Jharkhand a rich state – Swarnagarbha Basundhara. Nature is bountiful all over. Then why should our people suffer? Why is there so such poverty and inequality? Why is Jharkhand a fertile ground for Left Wing Extremism?
The answers to these questions must come from our collective conscience. People in Jharkhand may be poor, but as you showed me in your presentation, they are rich in their enterprise and imagination.
The job of the government and the job of the civil society are to ignite that imagination and create an enabling environment for the start-up option. This is what our Prime Minister dreams about. India can be vibrant only when every Indian is vibrant. Every institution is vibrant.
What I saw in your presentation today is extremely fulfilling to me. Extremism is in the wane. That throws up an opportunity to encash on. The time has come for a thousand flowers to bloom.
The MUDRA scheme of the Government of India has come at the right time. The time has come for the government to stand up for entrepreneurs by going an extra mile.
It is only an entrepreneur who creates job and wealth for our society. I sincerely thank the organizers to have taken that small step and have no doubt in mind that ‘Help Grow Wings” would really expand and be a contagious movement in the state.
Kindly be assured of my fullest support to these endeavors.”
