I am willing to assist cops or go to jail: Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy

Jamshedpur, May 5: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy said he would be making himself available to Ranchi police tomorrow in order to assist them in investigation in connection with the FIR lodged against him under Official Secrets Act 1923.

Roy, in a press statement issued here on Thursday said, “The Section 5 of The Official Secrets Act, 1923 are not relevant in connection to the charges of leaking official documents leveled against me by the state government officials. The person who has complained against me is himself accused of claiming Covid incentive in an unauthorized manner. The person who directed him to lodge FIR against me is also involved in the irregularity. Perhaps they did not consider the pros and cons of the case before lodging FIR against me.”

Roy said he would nevertheless be available to give his statement before police or go to jail.
