Human Rights Day lecture at Jamshedpur Workers College

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Workers College, through its National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, celebrated Human Rights Day on 10 December, marking the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The event, themed “Human Rights Awareness Campaign,” was inaugurated by Principal Dr. S.P. Mahalik, who urged the youth to understand not only their rights but also their responsibilities.

The chief guest, Chandragupta Singh, President of the Jharkhand Human Rights Association, a long-time social worker, praised the global efforts toward universal suffrage and highlighted the achievements of his association. Other notable members of the association, including Dhananjay Shukla, Dinesh Kumar Keenu, and senior journalist Vikas Srivastava, also addressed the gathering. Keenu spoke about the history, current challenges, and future possibilities of human rights, emphasizing the importance of education in protecting these rights.

The lecture, conducted by NSS Program Officer Dr. Alok Kumar Choubey, was attended by faculty members including Dr. Anil Pathak, Professor Subhash Chandra Das, and others. Professor Amarnath delivered the vote of thanks. A large number of students participated in the enlightening session.
