House set on fire in Chakradharpur, two injured

Chakradharpur, April 30: Two persons were burnt in Potterkholi area of Chakradharpur on Friday afternoon after unidentified miscreants set a thatched house on fire.

The victims were identified as Sura Hansda and her granddaughter Mukta Hansda. Sura was critically burnt in the incident. Both victims were taken to Chakradharpur Railway Hospital and later referred to MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur, sources said.

Sources said the miscreants sprinkled petrol on the house of Somvari Hansda, Sura’s daughter, before setting it afire. This is the second incident of arson in her house. Earlier, on 10^th April last, unidentified persons had set her house on fire. Many household articles were burnt in the incident. But no casualty was reported in the incident. Somvari had complained to Chakradharpur police but no action was taken by police. Within three weeks, the incident was repeated, Somvari said.

Local residents blamed police slackness for the incident.
