Jamshedpur, Dec 10: The Hostel team lifted the trophy of the Inter-Departmental Premier Cricket Tournament held at RD Tata Technical Education Centre (RDTTEC), Golmuri, after a strong all-round performance in the final match. The tournament showcased the sporting talent of students and concluded with great enthusiasm.
In the five-over final, the Hostel team batted first and scored 62 runs for 3 wickets. Star batsman Akash Yadav played a match-winning knock, smashing 45 runs in quick time and putting the opposition under pressure. His power-packed batting set a challenging target for the rival team.
Chasing 63, Mechatronics B struggled against the Hostel team’s sharp bowling attack and were bowled out for 44 runs, handing the Hostel team an 18-run victory and the championship title.
Earlier, the semi-finals delivered high-voltage excitement. Mechatronics A edged out the Electronics team in a thrilling Super Over, while the Hostel team defeated Mechatronics B to secure a spot in the final.
During the closing ceremony, Institute Vice Principal Ramesh Rai presented trophies, medals and certificates to the winners and runners-up. Principal Preeta John motivated the players, emphasising that sports events help instill discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship among students.
The tournament concluded successfully, celebrating the energy, skill and competitive spirit of young players at RDTTEC.
