Jamshedpur, June 6: The Horticultural Society Jamshedpur (HSJ) celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with the inauguration of its newly developed courtyard garden, “Manbhawan,” located behind the HSJ Office in Jubilee Park. The beautifully curated space was inaugurated by Chief Guest D. B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel Limited, in a ceremony that emphasized sustainability and innovation in urban gardening.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Anuradha Mohapatra, General Secretary of HSJ, who greeted dignitaries and guests. Designed in line with the World Environment Day theme “Beat Plastic Pollution,” the “Manbhawan” garden features a unique blend of creative landscaping and environmentally conscious design. It incorporates upcycled materials such as broken earthen bricks, glass bottles, tiles, old tyres, and wooden logs to promote the reuse of waste and reduce the environmental footprint.

Mrs. Sumita Nupur, President of HSJ, delivered the inaugural address and highlighted the Society’s commitment to expanding green spaces across Jamshedpur. She shared recent achievements, including the development of the Rose Garden last year, made possible with the support of Tata Steel Limited and Tata Steel UISL. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to both organizations for their continued partnership in HSJ’s mission of promoting urban horticulture and environmental sustainability.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior members of the Society, including Shri Pranay Sinha, Vice President, HSJ, and other executive members. The event concluded with a tree plantation drive in the “Manbhawan” garden area, reinforcing HSJ’s dedication to ecological preservation.
Mrs. Nupur also announced two major upcoming events — the Annual Flower Show to be held at Gopal Maidan from December 28, 2025, to January 1, 2026, and the Garden of the Year Competition, scheduled for January 10–11, 2026. The selected flower varieties for the season include Rose (Bahurupi), Giant Chrysanthemum (Kokka Sonnou Pink), and Small Chrysanthemum (Yellow Spoon).
