Jamshedpur, Dec 25 : Members of the Laghu Udyog Bharati, Saraikela-Kharsawan district chapter, met Industries Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav at Jamshedpur’s Circuit House on Wednesday to apprise him of issues faced by industrialists and businessmen. Key concerns included the holding tax introduced by the Adityapur Municipal Corporation, irrespective of lands leased by the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) in the Adityapur industrial area.
The delegation, led by Laghu Udyog Bharati Saraikela-Adityapur President Gyan Chandra Jaiswal, submitted a four-point memorandum highlighting the challenges faced by businessmen and industrialists in the zone. Alongside Jaiswal, members of the organization, including Vinod Sharma, B.N. Hazra, Sanjay Sharma, Ajay Agarwal, and Uday Singh, participated in the meeting.

After hearing the grievances, Minister Yadav assured the Laghu Udyog Bharati members of prompt action to address the issues and foster the area’s development.
Jaiswal said, “We informed the honourable minister about the Adityapur Municipal Corporation’s proposal to impose holding tax on industrial units. We also informed him that the area hosts approximately 1,200 units, providing direct employment to over 1.5 lakh workers and indirectly supporting another 50,000 people. With existing financial burdens such as GST, income tax, and other levies, the entrepreneurs argued that the additional holding tax would be unjust and requested an exemption.”
The members also raised concerns about the deplorable condition of roads in the industrial area. They reported significant damage caused by excavation for drainage and other works. The lack of timely repairs has rendered the roads nearly unusable, with frequent accidents occurring, especially at night and during the rainy season, due to heavy vehicle movement and worker commutes.
Additionally, the communique highlighted the non-functionality of streetlights, leaving the industrial area in darkness at night. This has resulted in increased accidents and thefts, posing serious safety risks for workers and businesses.
The absence of proper parking facilities for goods vehicles was another issue brought to the minister’s attention.
Minister Yadav assured the delegation that their concerns would be taken seriously and resolved at the earliest. He reiterated his commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing the challenges faced by the Adityapur industrial area.
