Cops begin probe into Bablu Mahato’s killing
Jamshedpur: Police recovered the body of one Bablu Mahato from an alley on a roadside near Vasundhara Apartment on the National Highway 33 on Thursday. Senior police officials led by the superintendent of police (city) Kartik S reached the crime scene and began investigation into the killing. Police pressed into service a dog squad, but could not find a clue till late this evening.
Local residents blocked the main road for several hours to protest the murder of the youth who was reportedly a resident of Dimna Busti. They alleged that police inaction had led to the heinous act by the criminals. The road blockade led a large number of vehicles to line up on both sides of the road at Dimna Chowk as well as on the National Highway.
Police officials tried to pacify the agitators by assuring to take necessary action to ensure speedy arrest of the killers of Bablu Mahato. Cops suspect the killing to be the result of enmity. They said they had talked to the kin of the deceased to get some clues into the killing, but failed to make any headway so far.
Sources said the deceased worked as a contract driver in a private company. They sent the body of the deceased to the MGM Medical College for postmortem examination.
Police lodged an FIR against unidentified persons and searched through the area for the death weapon.
