Jamshedpur: The Deputy Commissioner, Ananya Mittal, has announced stringent regulations concerning the sale and use of firecrackers. In a meeting aimed at maintaining law and order during the celebrations, officials emphasized that only licensed vendors will be permitted to sell firecrackers, and strict measures will be in place to prevent sales in densely populated areas.
The administration’s decision comes as part of a broader effort to ensure public safety and minimize noise pollution during the festivals. High-decibel firecrackers that contribute to excessive noise levels will be completely banned, and the police will conduct rigorous inspections to enforce compliance.
District officials are urging citizens to celebrate responsibly, stressing the importance of adhering to safety regulations during the festivities. “We want everyone to enjoy the celebrations while also being mindful of the potential hazards that firecrackers can pose,” said Mittal. “Ensuring safety is our top priority.”
In addition to firecracker regulations, the meeting reviewed preparations for maintaining cleanliness at immersion and Chhath ghats, traffic management, and the overall security of the area. With the festive spirit in full swing, authorities are committed to creating a joyful yet secure environment for all residents.
In a high-level meeting held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal reviewed comprehensive plans to ensure the peaceful and orderly celebration of Deepawali, Kali Puja, and Chhath. The meeting was attended by key administrative and police officials, including ADM (Law and Order) Aniket Sachan, SDM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar, Rural SP Rishabh Garg, City SP Kumar Shivashish, representatives from Jusco, and other essential department heads. The officials emphasized promoting a harmonious environment during the festivities while upholding law and order.
The District Magistrate instructed officials to ensure timely cleaning and maintenance of Chhath ghats, including provision of adequate lighting, barricading, and installation of changing rooms for women at immersion sites. He also called for tagging boatmen and divers for enhanced safety and asked that danger zones be marked. Municipal bodies and Jusco representatives were urged to complete these preparations promptly to facilitate safe and orderly rituals for devotees.
In light of the ongoing election season, the District Magistrate emphasized strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct, instructing officials to prevent any breaches during festival-related political campaigning. A flying squad was activated for continuous monitoring, especially on social media platforms, to ensure communal harmony is maintained.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that public safety is the administration’s priority and cautioned against any acts that could incite social or communal tension. Officials were advised to monitor DJ usage during idol immersion processions to prevent inappropriate content and noise pollution. Additionally, he warned of strict action against any individuals disturbing communal peace.
Roads leading to Chhath Ghats will be kept motorable, with drop gates at crowded areas and systematic miking to assist in crowd control. The District Magistrate directed the civil surgeon to ensure hospitals are on alert and ambulances are readily available for emergencies. The fire department will deploy fire extinguishers at key locations to provide added safety.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal confirmed that additional magistrates, police officers, and armed forces will be stationed at all sensitive locations. Strict checks on vehicle movements will also be enforced, and unlicensed sale of firecrackers will be closely monitored. Kaushal assured the public of extensive security arrangements to maintain order throughout the festive period.

Too many loud Bombs have already been purchased by affluent people & they are creating nuisance daily at night. Even double bombs, rockets are being blasted from the ground endangering those who live in higher floors.
The authorities have taken the right decision, but it is very late. Who can stop those who are bursting such loud bombs, only time will tell.
DJ trucks are deployed during Chhat puja & they play these remixed songs with disco beats that has nothing to do with the puja. It only creates noise pollution & is very dangerous to kids. Kids can lose sense of hearing if exposed to such loud noise for a prolonged period of time.
Hope the authorities are true to their words.
