Ranchi: A High Court advocate, Lal Gyan Ranjan Nath Shahdev, and his family have fallen victim to death threats, prompting the advocate to file a case at the Pandara OP on Saturday. The alarming incident occurred when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle intercepted Advocate Lal Gyan Ranjan Nath Shahdev’s jeep. The perpetrators brandished a revolver, intimidating the advocate to withdraw a case from the High Court. Failure to comply, they threatened to harm both him and his family.
Advocate Gyan Ranjan immediately reported the incident to the Pandara police station, lodging a First Information Report (FIR) to document the grave threats against him and his family. The advocate had been overseeing construction work at his office in Noba Nagar and was returning home on Ratu Road after completing the tasks. The assailants intercepted him near the water tank in Banhora, making explicit threats on his life.
It is noteworthy that Advocate Gyan Ranjan had recently participated in a court-ordered committee, along with two other lawyers, to assess illegal encroachments near the origin of the Harmu river at Kathal Mor. The incident follows the court’s directives, indicating a potential connection to the advocate’s professional activities.
